Christmas at Glen Eyrie
Glen Eyrie Castle hosts several elegant Christmas events that are sure to add some enchantment to your holidays. Attend the Yule Tea on select days throughout December to enjoy a selection of teas and a special holiday menu, complete with a cinnamon egg nog scone with Devonshire cream. The Yule Tea is just $29 per person. For a more elaborate affair, attend the Madrigal Banquet featuring live entertainment and a four-course meal for $114 on Thursdays or $124 Friday, Saturday, Monday, or Tuesday.
Festival of Lights
The Colorado Springs Festival of Lights Parade is an annual must-see. It’s scheduled for December 5 at 5:50 p.m. UCCS students of today and tomorrow are grand marshalling the parade with Clyde, their mountain lion mascot, and the school’s pep band. The parade is free to attend and takes place down Palmer Park Boulevard in downtown Colorado Springs.
Star Days – There’s Snow Place Like Space
Attend the Space Foundation Discovery Center on December 6 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., and you’ll enjoy several special activities included with your admission. Try some hands-on experiments with snow, watch a special NASA “Frozen” presentation, and participate in frosty crafts and workshops designed just for this snowy celebration. Don’t forget to get a picture with Santa before you leave.
Open House at Cheyenne Mountain
Cheyenne Mountain State Park is hosting their annual Holiday Open House on December 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event includes face painting, crafts, refreshments, family activities, and a visit with Santa Claus. Snuggle up by the fire for story time, go on a winter scavenger hunt, or enjoy a free relaxation massage to help you recoup from holiday stress. Retail products are 20 percent off during the event, and Mountain Girl Photography’s art will be featured. Admission is free.
A Holiday Evening at Rock Ledge Ranch
Escape to Rock Ledge Ranch on December 19 for a special holiday evening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tour the 1860s homestead by lantern light for an authentic feel of what historic Christmases were like. Meanwhile, the 1880s Rock Ledge House will host a Victorian Christmas, and the 1907 Orchard Home will feature Edwardian festivities. Head to the Carriage House for hot cider and holiday treats, or stop at the General Store and purchase cookies to raise money for the Animal Horse Fund. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Those five and under are free.
